Great River TEC marks 44th year with "Do Something Day"

Great River Teens Encounter Christ, which is very dear to my heart, recently celebrated it's 44th year of leading young people deeper into the paschal mystery with its second annual Do Something Day:
Around 50 volunteers from the TEC program worked on projects at the YMCA, CYO, Transitions School, the Humane Society and a local home that had suffered from storm damage. This day of service was Great River TEC’s second annual “Do Something Day.” Do Something Day was inspired by contemporary Christian artist Matthew West’s song “Do Something,” that challenges individuals to make a difference. Do Something Day received recognition from West as a part of his Do Something Summer of Purpose initiative. TEC is continuing its efforts to make a difference in the community with a pay it forward initiative that encourages community members to do random acts of kindness and encourage the recipient to pay it forward [more].
The time of service was followed the Holy Mass and a picnic at which Laura Evans and Gary and Cindy Frericks received the Spirit of TEC award.

The day also marked the kick-off of the third annual fundraising campaign to help keep the costs of a TEC retreat low for the participants and team members.
