Let's clear things up

If you are still trying to sort out for yourself and others the role of Pope Benedict XVI in the clergy sex abuse scandal - especially given several recent (and inaccurate) media tales in recent months - you can either go through several posts I have done on the matter or, more simply, pick up a copy of Pope Benedict XVI and the Sexual Abuse Crisis: Working for Reform and Renewal by Gregory Erlandson and Matthew Bunson, published by Our Sunday Visitor.

Erlandson's and Bunson's work is a readable account of the history of the scandal, not only from within the Church but also through the eyes of the media.

Several half-truths are revealed, hazy areas are made clear and a good understanding of the requirements of canon law is put forth. The book also includes several meditations and statements from Pope Benedict XVI concerning the crisis.

I am happy to give this little book my recommendation.
