When?

It is being widely reported that this morning the Holy Father will appoint His Excellency Jose Gomez, Archbishop of San Antonio as Coadjutor Archbishop of Los Angeles to succeed His Eminence Roger Cardinal Mahony. We'll know for certain in just a short time.

While I'm certainly happy that the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will have a Bishop to shepherd them, I can't help but wonder: when will we have a Bishop appointed to lead us here in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois?

Call it what you will - perhaps a bit of jealousy - but we've been waiting for a Bishop longer than usual now: ten months and three days.

Please, Lord, send us a shepherd after your own heart. Soon.
