The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has appointed two of my professors at the University of St. Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary - Fr. Peter Damian Akpunonu and Sr. Sara Butler, MSBT - as "experts" at the Twelfth General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
Fr. Peter Damien taught biblical classes, focusing especially on the Old Testament. Sr. Sara taught Christology.
Sr. Sara, you'll recall, is the author of the excellent book, The Catholic Priesthood and Women: A Guide to the Teaching of the Church.
The Synod of Bishops will meet from 5 - 26 October 2008 to discuss the theme, "The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church."
